Mercy quantum
Though we place on our blog basically reviews of DVD-releases, this time have decided to make an exception and to present on your consideration the review of film recently seen in wide hire about the next adventures of the agent 007 James Bonda «mercy Quantum» («Quantum of Solace»). As parametres coming in December of this year DVD-release can be foreseen in advance: being «скороспелкой», on it there will be no additional materials, the image of type "telecinema" (it is obligatory with «cigarette burns» in the right top corner), absence of an original sound track etc. (as I name, licence «пиратка») is possible.
After previous «the Grand piano» which I to I, by the way, has liked, special illusions into the account of "the new Bond», for some reason, did not feed the Casino. There was a bad presentiment. My most worst expectations have proved to be true – the "Bond" franchise dies out, turning to the ordinary insurgent with quite good pursuits and firing and (about horror!) melodrama and political correctness elements. I have tested frank disappointment and felt deceived – after all that Bond which reigned on screens of the world within last forty years, on whim of newly made producers already was not present. Now on points and one after another.
1. I do not argue, Mark Forster the good director. The founder of "the Magic country» and оскароносного «Ball of monsters». But it specialises basically on thin psychological melodramas. In a word, the aesthete. As it was possible for it to give reins of government over a film about the Bond the mind boggles! Attempt to bring gravity and inner meaning in entertaining and superficial adventures of the British agent is appreciable in each shot. Because of it the film loses elegance and the cynical humour, inherent in former tapes, and considerably "grows heavy". As if you look a new series about Born (an excellent film serial, but it has no, should not have more truly, anything the general with the "Bond" franchise) or any other qualitative insurgent about the severe and ruthless world of espionage. With the same success it was possible to invite as the director adored by me David Kronenberga or David Lynch. They precisely would bring in "Bondiana", unique, the contribution. It would not seem to anybody a little. And if it is serious, about James Bonde it is necessary to involve in shootings of films not talented kinodelov-winners of the award Oscar, having an original sight at world around, and the strong handicraftsmen, capable to entice, intrigue and amuse the spectator, filled to itself a hand on insurgents and detective thrillers. Such as John Glenn who has removed five films of "Bondiana" («Only for your eyes», «Осьминожка», «the Kind on murder»), Guy Hemilton («Голдфингер», «Brilliants for ever», «Live and allow to die»), Whether Тамахори («Die, but not now», "Prophet", «Rock Малхолланд» etc.
2. Attempt to "humanise" the Bond to open its sincere experiences in what good has not resulted. During all film the agent 007 reflexes, suffers, suffers, recollecting lost in «the Casino the Grand piano» beloved Веспер Линд (Eve Green – "Kingdom of heaven", "Dreamers", «the Gold compass»). He wishes to sweep. But having listened to the chief of "M" (Джуди Денч – «the Gold Eye», «And the whole world is not enough», «Die, but not now»), all time reproaching it for senseless murders, and also to the reason (sic), the Bond marvellously kills also that, only with a view of the compelled self-defence when other exit is not present a little. The rascal who has pushed Веспер to change, our hero not четвертует (I repeat, he aspired to it all film), and submissively gives in charge justice (МИ-6). I was simply killed by a scene in which dying Ren Matis (Джанкарло Джаннини "Darkness", «Ганнибал», "Anger") says to the Bond, that Веспер it was loved. Directly passions from the Brazilian "soap" serial! In the subsequent series, probably, James Bond will get a family, and in them its difficult mutual relations with the wife and children, with impatience waiting for returning of the agent home after performance of responsible state tasks by it will be shown. For the sake of justice it is necessary to notice, that the Bond loved really and earlier. In a picture «On confidential service of Its Majesty» the agent even married beauty Trejsi (Дайана Ригг – «the Ornamented veil», «Angrily under the sun», "July Caesar"), but she has been operatively killed at once after wedding by well-known villain Blofeldom (Телли Савалас - "Capricorn-one", «the Express train of horrors», «Heroes Kell») – the enemy of the Bond № 1, probably, not to load the subsequent series unnecessary family circumstances of private life unsinkable 007. By the way, the novel with Трейси was not reflected in any way in dynamics of a film and, that is important, on behaviour and Bond actions.
James Bond at heart the cynic, the ladies' man, the fan of a beautiful life and the murderer for the good of Its Majesty of the Queen. Here we see devastated, disappointed in a life and the heads of the person being under constant pressure. In a word, the agent directly from pages of novels of John Le Karre or Lena of Dayton, but in any way the Bond! He does not aspire to look imposing, to it all the same what to drink (and how vodka-martini, to shake up but not to mix?!). And where коронная a phrase «My name is the Bond. James Bond»? Where John Barri's classical musical theme, the acquaintance all since the childhood, a red thread passing in all previous tapes of "Bondiana" (it sounds bashfully only during a final caption but who to them will remain sitting)? Remains Nothing …
3. Is not has gone right also idea to break a "Bond" cycle by creation дилогии «the Casino the Grand piano» - «mercy Quantum». Earlier each film about the Bond was the independent product not dependent from previous. Occasionally they were connected by the survived villains (for example, the same Блофельд or the professional killer-giant on the "Jaw" nickname (Richard Kil – «the Spy who loved me», «the Lunar racer – Мунрейкер», «the Name to it Death»)), however plots have not been connected among themselves. Форстер has made direct continuation «the Casino the Grand piano» and, in my opinion, has lost. It is impossible to look «mercy Quantum» without a binding to «the Casino the Grand piano». The spectator who was not seeing «the Casino the Grand piano», resolutely will understand nothing in work Форстера. Moreover, if you even saw «the Casino the Grand piano», but very much for a long time, at viewing of "mercy Quantum» you should recollect feverishly a plot of the first film дилогии, that is rather difficult, considering its rather confused peripetias. And after all there is a hypothetical probability of development дилогии in the trilogy – the former most important shadow enemy of the Bond from «the Casino the Grand piano» Mr. Uajt (Йеспер Христенсен – "Translator", «Fast trunks», "Barbara"), become not the main obvious enemy of the Bond in «mercy Quantum» (have not got confused yet?), as a result has survived. Such here, «the espionage soap opera» can turn out.
4. As though I well did not concern to Дэниелу Крэйгу ("Intrusion", "Munich", «the Puff pie»), but is compelled to recognise, that its proletarian appearance has already started to become boring. In «the Casino the Grand piano» such брутальный the shape undoubtedly approached it and has been justified. In that film all was in a novelty, as well as the actor. He severely fought, to it broke the person, it subjected to brutal tortures. Former handsome men of type of Roger Moore («Live and allow to die», «the Person with a gold pistol», «the Spy who loved me») and the Pier of Brosnan («the Gold Eye», «will not die Tomorrow never», «And the whole world it is not enough») (it, the truth, too пытали, but not so is naturalistic) would not take out such relation to. And Крэйг, with its ugly and places the swelled up person (yes will forgive me of the fan of this remarkable actor with celestial-blue eyes and athletic muscles) had appeared very opportunely. But when he plays «the drama Bond», tries to enrich its image theatrical receptions it becomes boringly banal. To «mercy Quantum» there was no boring film about James Bonda. Any! And here, despite dynamics and beautiful "action" sometimes it would be desirable to yawn.
5. In an advertising campaign previous an exit on the wide screen of "mercy Quantum», action scenes, that is "action-scene" were very much praised highly, even were awarded by such epithet as unprecedented. Personally I amazing in them have not seen anything. The episode with a pursuit by the cars, an opening film agrees, that, is executed at faultless level. Very beautifully and высокопрофессионально. Air fights by planes and a pursuit on boats are perfectly removed. But, allow, and should be! All "Bond" tapes without an exception just also are well-known amazing imagination and scenes of pursuits grasping spirit, prosecutions, firing, fights etc. In this respect Форстер has not brought anything new in "Bondiana". Time goes, the technology of shootings varies and will be improved, new possibilities for creation of surprising scenes open. Simply "actions-scenes" and special effects became more difficult and entertainment. And Форстер, on the contrary, has softened classical structure of a "Bond" film in which end there should be a shock scene, some kind of "grand ending" when all around blows up, chaotic shooting everywhere is heard, the Bond fights with the henchman of the basic villain, and then and with it etc. Instead it has modestly enough shown a fire in hotel, rescue of heroine Olga Kurilenko («Хитмэн», "Max Pejn", «Paris, I love you») Camillas, unpersuasive fight of the agent 007 with the enemy who later in desert has released wherever one wishes, having presented it to bank with lubricating oil instead of water (that is has correctly apprehended criticism from party «M«).
6. Censures and negative characters of "mercy Quantum» cause. Main villain Dominik Green (Матье Амальрик – «the Survival suit and the butterfly», "Munich", «Kings and the queen») – sickly, nothing the remarkable businessman with the protruding eyes, not representing any physical threat for the Bond. M.Amalrik said, that at creation of an image of Green he tried to adopt a manner of behaviour Николя Саркози. Probably it was possible to it. But Саркози, fighting with Крэйгом, I though kill, cannot imagine. To tell the truth, any caricature on the villain has turned out. On idea, at such boss should be smashed-assistant, to which the Bond should battle in final fight (so almost always was). Ан is not present! Green is accompanied дистрофичного a kind by the ordinary-looking young man with an idiotic hairdress and a sonorous name Elvis (Anatole Taubman – "Hostage", «Blood and chocolate», «Фэй the Make-up») which it is safe without the aid of the Bond itself perishes in a fire in hotel. "Bond" villains become shallow! Oh, as become shallow! There were such picturesque characters as the mentioned Ernest Stavro Blofeld earlier (Телли Савалас, Donald Plezens – "Halloween", «the Prince of darkness», «you Live only twice», Charles Grej – «you Live only twice», «Night of generals», "Shock therapy"), "square" Japanese Odddzhob (Harold Sakata – «the Fifth measurement», "Fighter", "Impulse"), killing people the hat with sharp as the razor fields, the "Jaws", having a bite the steel teeth of a neck of unfortunate victims, yes the same Ле Шиффр (Мэдс Миккелсен – "King Arthur", «Open hearts», «Flickering fires») from «the Casino the Grand piano», from an ominous sight from a bleeding which eye was compressed heart, and many other things! In my opinion, Green and Elvis are the weakest and unpersuasive enemies of the agent 007 for all time of existence of "Bondiana".
7. It is extremely insulting, that in aspiration to make a film more realistic founders of "mercy Quantum» practically completely have refused various espionage adaptations which gave to the previous tapes original charm and played a considerable role in development of a subject line up to Bond rescue in hopeless, apparently, situations (even in «the Casino the Grand piano», begun epoch of realism of "Bondiana", at the agent 007 were espionage lotions). Very much there is no charming old man «Q» (dead Desmond Llevelin – «From Russia with love», «Голдфингер», "Fireball") and prudish, but amusing «R» (magnificent John Kliz («And the whole world it is not enough», «Die, but not now», «Rat run») which, unfortunately, has awarded with the participation only two "Bond" films). To find it any equivalent replacement (that is the extremely difficult) or to return «R». It is convinced, that it if only has gone on advantage to the subsequent pictures of a cycle about the world famous spy.
8. Does not please also duration of a film which lasts the little more than hundred minutes. Never was such a short tape about James Bonde. Usual duration of "Bond" films – nearby or more than two hours. It proves, that «the mercy Quantum» should be perceived, first of all, as some kind of creative "makeweight" to successful «the Casino the Grand piano». Probably, it would be most logical to wait year and to let out a four-hour film under the name, for example, «a mercy Casino». I would pound was More.
And as a whole, «the mercy Quantum» is dynamical enough and interesting insurgent having, however, rather mediocre relation to "Bondiana". Qualitative such clone of the trilogy about agent Jayson Born and иже with it.
To destroy stereotypes (in this case "Bond" stereotypes) it is easy, but it is not always good. Especially if it is a question of the images which have settled in a cinema of heroes. Indiana Johns has not changed Something to the habits and remained former in «Kingdom of the Crystal skull». Spielberg and Лукас not silly people – they know, that do. With horror I think, what will be the Bond in the future ambassador of end of the contract with Крэйгом – becomes black (it now fashionably, especially against a universal enthusiastic hysteria round B.Obamy's election), the homosexual, the invalid? Or at once all together? And what? To pull down canons it is necessary with a crash and it is beautiful! The main thing – that all was politically correct.
